VotL Filmmakers Receive Brown-Hudson Award from NC Folklore Society

On Saturday Oct. 11th Drs. Michele Fazio and Jason Hutchens attended the North Carolina Folklore Society’s 101st conference where they received the Brown-Hudson Award for their work on Voices of the Lumbee. The award recognizes persons who have made outstanding contributions to the appreciation, continuation, or study of North Carolina folk traditions. We’re thrilled to have received this honor. Thanks go out to all of the folks involved in the production that helped make this possible!

  1. Congratulations! I was hoping that I could get some contact information to discuss getting a clip on the Lumbee in Baltimore for a presentation? Thanks!

    1. Hi Sarah,
Thanks for the note. Unfortunately that clip is not available to the public at this time. The film is currently under consideration for a number of film festivals taking place after the start of the year. Until we have a chance to run them at these festivals, we are limited in how much of the film we can distribute, as public displays of the film can impact our eligibility for the festivals we are targeting. If you haven’t already, you should consider following this blog. We update the website as news about the film occurs. It will eventually be available to the public, and we will announce that when this occurs. However, at this time there is no firm date for when it will be available. Thus, following this site would be the best way to know when it is released.
Thank you again for your interest.
